Dr Tim Watson

Tim has been working at Gungahlin General Practice since its establishment in 1999.

Tim graduated from Flinders University of South Australia in 1989. Following his internship at Modbury Hospital in Adelaide he spent a year at Broken Hill Base Hospital.

In 1991 Tim went travelling for six months through South East Asia, Nepal and India before taking up an Anaesthetic position in Poole, England. After 2 years of Anaesthetics he then did rotations in England in Care of the Elderly and Ear Nose and Throat Surgery. On his return to Australia in 1994 now married to an English lady he undertook his General Practice Training in the ACT gaining his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996 and has been working fulltime in General practice since then.
He did his Diploma in Child Health (University of Sydney) at the Westmead Children’s Hospital in 2000.

Tim has two boys and a girl and very much enjoys being with his family doing various activities. He is a dedicated runner having pounded the pavement for 30 years now.

Special Interests: Surgical procedures (Including Implanon and IUD insertion), paediatrics, dermatology*, occupational medicine and Skin Clinic/Skin Cancers.

  Dr Ranji Perera
Ranji has worked at the Gungahlin General Practice since its infancy starting in 2000. Ranji graduated from her Medical Degree at Colombo University (Sri Lanka) in 1985. She immigrated to Australia with her family in 1992. She passed her Australian Medical Council examination gaining her certificate with ease in 1995.
After completing the RACGP Family Medicine Program she was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2000.
For 15 years now Ranji has been working in Calvary A&E given her interest in acute medicine and her determination to keep her skills up to date. She is well known and respected amongst the medical community in Canberra.
Ranji’s knowledge about women’s health and paediatrics is considerable. She commonly consults other Doctors family members.
Exercise and fitness is important to Ranji with her philosophy being a healthy body equals a healthy mind. She enjoys regular long walks.

Special Interests: Women’s health, Paediatrics, Immunisations and Acute Medicine.
  Dr Prema Rajendra
Prema completed her medical degree in Sri Lanka in 1993. She immigrated with her husband to Australia in 1995. They have since had two beautiful daughters.
Prema passed her Australian Medical Council exam with ease gaining her certificate in 1998. Before undertaking her General Practice Training Prema undertook a lot of Accident and Emergency work firstly in Tasmania and then Calvary Hospital here in Canberra.
Prema went into her General Practice training gaining a breath of experience particularly paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her main location of work was rural practice that required more responsibility and self reliance as a doctor.
Patients that consult Prema quickly realize her caring nature and competence as a General Practitioner. As a consequence those reliably become regular and loyal patients of hers.
Prema especially enjoys table tennis along with family orientated activities.

Special Interests: Women’s Health, Paediatrics, minor surgical procedures and accident and casualty cases.
  Dr Emily Nicoll
Emily has been working at Gungahlin General Practice since 2006 having previously worked at Wakefield Gardens Practice in Ainslie and prior to that undertook a prolonged stint in a rural practice. She completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 1999. Gungahlin General Practice is very lucky to have Emily for a number of reasons with one of them being that she has a very strong interest in skin conditions. She is in charge of our skin cancer clinic which is located within the practice. Emily also has strong credentials in women’s health and family practice.
Having grown up and attended school in the ACT, Emily decided to settle back in Canberra knowing that it is an ideal place to progress her General Practice career and recreational pursuits.

Special Interests: Skin Clinic and skin cancers, women’s health, family practice and minor surgery (including Implanon/IUD insertion).
  Dr Kelly Lowther
Kelly graduated with her Medical degree from University of Sydney in 2002. After doing some post graduate work at the Canberra Hospital. She commenced her General Practice training and graduated with RACGP in 2010.
Kelly has great capacity in dealing with family medicine, adolescent health and paediatrics. She is thorough, perceptive and engaging in dealing with her patients.
Kelly and her husband have 2 daughters.
Besides looking after her young daughters, Kelly is very busy in the community with various organised events.

Special Interests: Women’s Health (including IUD/implanon insertion.) Paediatrics, Adolescent health, minor surgical procedures.
  Dr Shane Collins
Shane completed his University degree in 1984 from RMIT. He has also completed his Master of Chiropractic degree at Macquarie University in 1993 and a certificate in impairment rating.

His interests are his children, daily exercise, Chiropractic massage /laser /manipulation and injury and pain management. Shane is a respected chiropractor gaining regular referrals from doctors and insurance companies give his successful outcomes.

Shane is very skillful at assessing complex injury. Patients who have had entrenched injuries and symptoms are very often significantly improved. The work and recreational functional capacity being more often than not improved to a level whereby a meaningful and sustainable existence transpires.
  Emma Prime

Emma joined the practice in 2008, previously working for Department of Defence as an organisational psychologist. Emma is also a specialist reserve psychologist for the Royal Australian Air Force. Originally from Adelaide, Emma is more of a local having lived in Canberra for almost 30 years. She completed her Bachelor of Science (Psychology Honours) degree at the Australian National University, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Technology (Human Factors) from Swinburne University. Emma has two young children, and spends some of her spare time volunteering at her son's school. She is also very involved in sports, playing hockey and tennis for over 20 years, and dabbling in a variety of other sports from time to time. Other pursuits of Emma's include reading, baking, and enjoying a glass of wine with friends.


Special interests: trauma, anxiety and stress, PTSD, depression (including postnatal), sleep, pain management, interpersonal relationships. Emma is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society, registered Medicare provider, and has extensive experience dealing with Comcare, compensation and insurance cases, and injury rehabilitation.

  Dr Thien La
MB BS (Syd Uni)
  Thien graduated with his Medical Degree from The University of Sydney in December 1988 and has been in private practice since 1990. Thien worked in Sydney as a GP for 8 years and has been working in Canberra as a full-time GP for almost 15 years. Thien has joined our team at Gungahlin General Practice in September 2012.

Thien enjoys all aspects of General Practice. He is currently registered as a specialist in the field of General Practice with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

  Dr Suran Rajapakse
MBBS(SL), MSc(Aus), ADPCSY(UK), Dip.USS(India), FRACGP(Aus)
  Suran joined Gungahlin General Practice after working in a busy general practice in Canberra since 2013. completed his medical degree in 2005 in Sri Lanka and following that he has worked in many disciplines in medicine including Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Acute medicine and finally continued with his passion for General Practice. He has completed his Masters at Monash University, Melbourne in 2009. In addition to that completed an Advanced Diploma in Counselling Psychology with Wigan & Leigh College, UK in 2010. He gained the Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2016. Due to his keen interest for up to date knowledge he has had training in managing patients with advanced Diabetes Mellitus and currently undergoing further training in dermatology.
Suran has two boys and very much enjoys being with his family doing various activities including travelling and adventure sports. He has a keen interest in Cricket and plays for a local club during the weekends.

Special Interests: Surgical procedures (Including Implanon, Tongue/lip Tie release,etc), Paediatrics, Diabetes Mellitus, Dermatology- Skin Cancers and various other skin conditions.
  Dr Lisa Bron

  Lisa graduated from Otago University in 1993, moving to Australia in 1995.  She then spent 4 years working in hospitals in NSW, SA and WA, gaining experience in Anaesthetics, Accident and Emergency, Paediatrics and Women`s Health. Lisa obtained her Diploma of Child Health in 1997, her Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1998, and her General Practice Fellowship in 2003. She completed a Masters of Family Medicine (Monash) in 2016. Lisa moved to Canberra in 2020 after working for 14 years in Tamworth. Special interests include the health of children and their families, mental health, management of chronic disease, palliative care and medical education.
  Dr Ramindhu Galgamuwe

Ramindhu joined Gungahlin General Practice after working as a GP in Canberra  and as a "Rural GP" in rural QLD since 2013. He completed his medical degree (MBBS)  in 2007 in Sri Lanka. Since then  he has worked in many disciplines in medicine including Paediatrics, General Medicine ( as a registrar at Canberra hospital ) , General Surgery , Acute Medicine and finally continued with his passion for General Practice. He gained the Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2018.
He has a passion for medical research, hence completed his M.Sc. in Biotechnology in 2010 and PhD in Pharmacology/Drug-Development ( for kidney disease)  from the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University in 2016. 

Ramindhu has one boy and very much enjoys being with his family doing various activities including travelling. He also enjoys spending time in the lab engaging in novel medical research. 

Special Interests: Aged care / treating elderly, Surgical procedures (Including Implanon, skin cancer excisions ,etc), Chronic disease management  including Diabetes  mellitus, Paediatrics, Dermatology- Skin Cancers and various other skin conditions.
